Blooming neighbour !

Good afternoon to you all, hope to find you well & happy. Well, Martin came home from work with a Migraine headache, so dosed up was packed off to bed ! 5 minutes later my neighbour started drilling ! They must have no space left to drill { they are always drillling something & I feel sure thir house will collapse one day}! He seems to be ok though..leaving me time to craft. I'm on Christmas cards now so perhaps I'll be ok this year. Look after yourselves X Jean

Having  had this last week off work as a holiday feeling pretty calm. The weather has been fab. & had lots of time to browse my fav DC forum. Watched Anna Karennina on Friday { won't spoil it for anyone intending to watch}, a super weekend last week at Yarmouth, lots of goodies ordered & recieved online & locally. Fitted the dentist in, and broke my cuttlebug { downsides of the week}, but actually not dreading going back to work for once! Hope you've all had a good week, enjoy the next one X Jean

Fab weekend

I've been such a lazy blogger recently, so much to do .......etc. But had a fab weekend at Ipswich with the East Norfolk Militia. Weather has been out of this world {at last} & The Ipswich maritime festival & beer festival has been such good fun. We stayed in student accomodation , ate out all weekend { no cooking or washing up}, but I did take a crafting mag. with me. The next event is Sept 1/2 at Gt Yarmouth, which is our home ground so to speak. If anyone goes there, please stop to say hello. Hope you've all had a great weekend X Jean

I suppose it's the only way to learn, by making mistakes. I must learn not to press anything until I know what it does.

Hello again, and todays blog is about the book I am reading at the moment. This is wierd because until the weekend, I hadn't read a book since Christmas { too busy}! Then I bought this book from a charity shop. It's the Emperor's Lady', by F.W.Kenyon ..first printed in 1952.

I have always liked British history { the social side }, and especially the Regency era. Now some of you may know Martin & I are in a small re~ enactment group , the East Norfolk Militia. We have immense fun doing this and have made many friends. This book has made me want to do a project , but have no time at present. I would like to do a very feminine criss cross card, but that will be later. I have however some pics to include today, and a card inspired by our group ..someone wants 2 similar ones made.

Hi, The post today is about which book I am reading at the moment, which is strange as I have'nt read a book for ages.....until the weekend when I saw this book in a charity shop ! Its 'The Emperor's Lady' by F.W Kenyon. As you may know, Martin & I are part of a re~enactment group the East Norfolk Militia, and I love the social history of the Regency era. This book has made me want to make something very feminine & lacy, so my project when I come back from holiday is to be a criss cross card.{ they seem to be popular at the moment}.

When I was small, all I can remember is that other children {who's parents had a car} used to go off to the beach a lot. My Mum used to take my small sister Carol & me by bus on the August one. She used to take our lunch, & a plastic bag with a flannel in it . We had bucket and spade. At the bus station we always used to worry if the bus was going to be full as not many people had cars then, but if a bus was full, they used to roll another one out of the garage.The weather always seemed to be nice, & the Gt. Yarmouth beach glorious. The small childrens funfair was a treat for us, and the snail ride was the favourite. Mum had a tea in the cafe near the beach. My dad must have been working as he was never there { poor man}. No pics of those Bank holidays as dad was the photographer, but have included a few memories anyhow

I'm using a scanned image of a card I made for a fellow DC member { who will be 50} soon. I have used a gorgeous Tilda image Wendy Fraser { Papersniffer}, kindly gave me.
I'm having fun looking through you tube videos at the moment and have saved so many items that I will never have time to make them all! The weather here has been awful all week { wet }, and as I cycle it feels cold as well. Have a good weekend all, will post again soon.

I have just found this ladys' web site and copied her purse. You probably have done something like this before, but it's a new one for me.
I then wandered through her you tube  bits { whatever you call them }, and found enough new things to keep me busy for ages ! I would say that she left 1/4 inch for the fold and tp punch the holes, but I would leave a bit wider. I'm going to try 9x9 paper next, and oerhaps even 6x6.

No camera.

Just wanted to say for anyone looking at my blog, that I am unable to put any pics on here until I buy a new camera. This is because a thief broke into my house a few weeks ago and found mine to his/her liking! I do feel bitter as I work hard for what I earn !I have been making small boxes to put eggs in for this weekend following the DC creativity club downloads ..brilliant for a newish person to crafting or like me wanting to try new ideas out. The ones I did were triangle shaped made to look like a chicken.{ my sister & family love chicken run}.Hope you all have a wonderful weekend . I will not have time to comment on blogs, but will look at as many as I can for inspiration and to catch up on news. X Jean.
PS for those interested I have my re enactment dress and bonnet now along with a necklace like Jane Austens, stockings new shoes and shawl ..all ready for our first outing on 22 April for a pre St George's day event.

  Just like many of you, I have snow overnight. Without sounding like a grumpy old lady ..I don't like it since I slipped last year & ended up in A&E with suspected fractured cheek { lucky it wasn't, but ended up looking like Frank Bruno,and felt very fragile for a few weeks }. Hope you are all well & keeping busy, I've had  a busy weekend so far with Romeo & Juliette , ballet at the theatre {lovely }, and our 1st ENM appearance of the year at Potters where they do the bowls from { a lush place to holiday }. Hera are 2 cards I've made this week, hope you like.

Would you believe it !!!!!!!!!!!!

Was having a lovely holiday ........until yesterday when our boiler went off & started leaking. Repair man came early today, then Martin & myself went for a walk along the river Wensum & guess who slipped over in the mud ? You guessed correctly, although OH says it was a tree root ! Right hand which I broke years ago is playing me up, hope its just bruised or soft tissue damage {as they call it nowadays}.

Birthday cards.

Hi, I'm lucky enough to be on holiday this week, and as weather is not too good { dull and wet }, I'm in the warm eating chocolate & drinking milky coffee ! The image on the pink card is from a DC friend, she will know who she is, ribbon from sale at local retailer, card cut by hand, hand made toppers and DC papers. I think if I start using more embellishments the cards will have to be boxed.

At long last, {and you may think it wasn't worth waiting for } I have a card. I am in a challenge on the DC site by Snoflake where you make a Christmas card each week, and by the end most people will have all they need for personal use. I really needed to do this as I bought lots of cards last year and was a bit ashamed. This year I hope to use up stash laying around, and if I have any cards left they will go to a charity. This image was kindly given to me by a friend, thankyou.

No time !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am finding it difficult to keep up with peoples blogs, so please excuse me I'm not being rude ....just lacking time. I tried Redrotties DC weekend bloghop and although I enjoyed it I will have to do it in my own time {if you know what I mean }. I have just spent an astronomical amount of money to have a dress for our re--enactment { regency }, made up. It's not finished yet, fitting on 21st this month.Happy crafting to all.

Sorry for the state of this site, but my lovely niece set it up for me at the New Year, and I was going for a lesson today to learn how to place pics on here. Only thing is I have a sad case of the sniffles, and have given up to rest. I am enjoying other blogs though, and will probably never have time to make another card !!!!!!!!

Made it to the end of the week !!!!

Tough week at work, and struggling with a cold { just like half the population }. Promised myself a trip to Joanne's demo at Taverham , Norwich tomorrow so hope I feel lots better. My mums birthday too on Monday and no card made !!!!!!! This blogging and DC forum is creating havoc. Hope to find out how to place pics on the blog tomorrow if my lovely niece is about.
